We need a few good MSAs.
Auto-MSA is our fully automated WCMSA portal, and it is in private beta. Send us a live case to stress test it. In exchange, we return a clinician-verified, CMS-submittable WCMSA and support it all the way through submission, at no charge to you.
Not all MSAs are created equal. Pricing has pretended otherwise for twenty years.
The flat-rate pricing this industry has enjoyed for the past two decades means a simple low back strain gets charged the same as a complex case involving multiple surgeries. As the people who wrote many of those MSAs, we know the same amount of labor is not involved in each. We have turned that collective wisdom over to technology to level the playing field.
WCMSAs are where automation actually fits.
As the national debate escalates over how and when to deploy AI in claims practice, we think the WCMSA is the natural place to start, because four things have held true for as long as we have been doing this:
- ✓CMS calculation methods are well established and predictable
- ✓Nine times out of ten the insurer requires CMS approval, even when the WCMSA plainly exceeds the value of the claim
- ✓CMS conducts an independent review in every case and counters higher at least 20% of the time, regardless of what is submitted
- ✓Nine times out of ten the insurer funds whatever amount CMS recommends and proceeds to settlement
We cannot change the subjective nature of the CMS approval program, and we cannot change the risk tolerance of the P&C industry regarding its Medicare exposure. What we can change is how quickly and how cost-effectively you get to settlement.
What if the WCMSA landed the same day you settled?
It can be weeks between the time you settle a claim and the time a WCMSA is submitted to CMS. Weeks during which people have time to think about the things that blow up settlements. You refer the case to your vendor, standard turnaround applies unless you pay extra, and once it comes back you still have to re-engage the claimant and their attorney to obtain a release, one that acknowledges the claimant reviewed the submission package and understands the intent of the WCMSA, the submission process, and the administration that follows.
Auto-MSA is designed to get someone already familiar with MSAs to CMS submission faster, while you still have the claimant's attention.
Per use. You pay for what you need.
On a per-use fee, you pay for the future medical cost projection, calculated in the manner CMS prefers. No contracts, no subscriptions, no monthly fees, unless you want one to secure bulk pricing or a document management system with a customized dashboard to maintain all your cases.
And for the files that need a little more, Sparx is still available on an hourly basis to support your settlements, complete and submit your automated projection, or provide a traditional MSA for genuinely complex cases.
Real files are the only honest test.
Every claims system produces a payment history in a different format. Different jurisdictions use different terminology. Medical providers use their own checklist forms. A portal that handles our cases cleanly still has to prove it handles yours, which is why we are testing against real files before general release rather than after it.
The process is simple. Fill out the basic case referral information, then drag and drop your medical and payment history. The portal generates a projection-only model and a full report. Along with the output, you will get an explanation of the different product offerings and their corresponding price points.
- ✓Monitor the processing time
- ✓Give us feedback on the output
- ✓Answer a short survey
- ✓One of our clinicians verifies the output by hand
- ✓A completed, CMS-submittable WCMSA
- ✓Sparx supports it through submission, at no charge
How we handle what you send.
No PHI is collected on this page. You apply here; records are uploaded on the referral page we send you the link to.
Inside the portal, your file is used to produce your report and to measure how the portal performed on it. We do not use claimant records to train AI models. We will delete uploaded files on request at any time, and within 30 days of returning your completed WCMSA. The same confidentiality obligations that govern every other Sparx engagement apply here.
Request a beta slot.
Fill out the form and we will follow up with your test portal link.
Already accepted into the beta? Submit a referral.
Just curious, and want to try the system on an old case that has already closed? Choose that option in the form. We cannot complete that file for you, but we are scheduling volunteers on set days to test capacity, and we will send you something for future use as thanks.
